The College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab Lahore has organized Seminar on the Occasion of “World Environment Day 2023” in collaboration of GIZ Pakistan on Monday 5th June 2023.
The distinguished guests Dr. Sajid Mahmood Chohan, Secretary Environment, Government of the Punjab, Mr. Javed Akhtar, Secretary Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, Lahore and Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Geosciences/ Acting Vice Chancellor University of Kamalia, Mr. Daniyal Mansoor Advisor Climate Adaptation and Coordination, GIZ Punjab addressed the participants of this seminar.
The distinguished guest speakers from academia, industry and research organizations have also addressed the participants. They laid down stress to develop a plastic free society to reduce pressure on environmental resources. Speakers further added that we must promote harmony between mother Earth and nature, to do this we must reduce plastic production as well as its usage by the community. To unleash this, we must launch massive campaigns to sustainable solutions to plastic pollution at global as well local scale. They further added we must get rid from plastic production and should switch to alternatives of plastics.
Prof. Dr. Irfan Ahmed Shaikh, Dr. Abdul Qadir, Dr. Mehvish Mumtaz, Ms. Anum Tariq and Mr. Muhammad Waqar were actively participated in the successful organization of the event.
